About This Compound
About TB-500
TB-500 is the research name for synthetic thymosin beta-4, a 43-residue, N-terminally acetylated peptide found in almost every nucleated cell and at especially high levels in platelets and white blood cells. Its best-characterised job is structural: it binds monomeric G-actin and holds it in reserve, which makes it one of the main regulators of how quickly a cell can rebuild its cytoskeleton. That role in cell structure and movement is why it is studied in cell migration, blood-vessel formation and tissue-repair models. The central LKKTETQ stretch is the actin-binding motif, and is also sold on its own under the same TB-500 name. PureChain Labs supplies TB-500 as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.

How It Works
How TB-500 Works
The pathways TB-500 acts on, and what each one does. Described from preclinical and receptor-pharmacology literature.
Holding G-Actin In Reserve
Thymosin beta-4 binds monomeric (G-) actin one-to-one and keeps it from polymerising. The cell can then release that pool quickly when it needs to extend its cytoskeleton - the basic reason the peptide is tied to cell shape and movement.
- Binds monomeric G-actin 1:1
- Buffers the pool available for filament growth
- Central to cytoskeletal turnover
Movement And New Vessels
Because migration depends on rapid actin remodelling, thymosin beta-4 has been studied in cell and animal models of cell migration and angiogenesis, where it is reported to promote endothelial cell movement and tube formation.
- Studied in endothelial migration assays
- Angiogenesis reported in preclinical models
- Findings are specific to the model used
LKKTETQ And Ac-SDKP
Two short pieces of the molecule are studied on their own: the central LKKTETQ actin-binding motif (residues 17-23), and the N-terminal tetrapeptide Ac-SDKP, which is released by enzymatic cleavage and investigated separately in fibrosis research.
- LKKTETQ = residues 17-23
- Ac-SDKP = N-terminal tetrapeptide
- Each fragment is a distinct research compound

FAQ
Common Questions About TB-500
What Is TB-500?
The research name for synthetic thymosin beta-4. This vial carries thymosin beta-4’s CAS number, 77591-33-4; PubChem lists it as timbetasin under CID 16132341, with the formula C212H350N56O78S and a molecular weight of 4963 g/mol.
Is TB-500 The Same As The 7-Residue Fragment?
The name is used for both. Some suppliers sell only the LKKTETQ fragment (residues 17-23) as TB-500. This listing follows the full 43-residue thymosin beta-4 identity printed on the vial - CAS 77591-33-4 and formula C212H350N56O78S.
What Does Thymosin Beta-4 Do In Cells?
Its best-characterised role is binding monomeric G-actin and holding it in reserve, which regulates how quickly the cytoskeleton can be rebuilt during cell movement.
What Is TB-500 Researched For?
Cell migration, angiogenesis, tissue-repair models and cytoskeleton biology, in cell and animal studies.
Is TB-500 Approved For Human Use?
No. Nothing supplied by PureChain Labs is approved for human use or sold for it. This material is supplied as a research chemical for in-vitro laboratory work only.
How Should Research-Grade TB-500 Be Stored?
As supplied it is a lyophilised powder; the vial directs storage in a cool, dry place in the lyophilised state, and refrigeration once reconstituted.
